Goosnargh Oliverson’s plays an active role in the village of Goosnargh.
We have strong links with our parish church, St Mary the Virgin, which lies opposite our school. Classes regularly visit the Church and Church Yard, hold class worship there each month and take part in communion services each half term. Steve, our vicar, comes to lead worship in school every week – we love his story telling!
Every week, a group of children spends their break time helping to litter pick around the village.
We enjoy fostering links with Bushell House, our neighbouring residential home. Our children visit the residents weekly as part of our reading buddies project and the residents take an active part in our school life, including coming to watch our school productions.
The neighbourhood policing team are familiar faces in school, regularly popping in to see how we are getting on and teaching us how to be safe. They organise many events for us, including our annual, 21 mile Guild Wheel sponsored bike ride to raise money for charity as well as the Year 6 post SATs celebration at Waddecar,
Many children take part in the Whittingham and Goosnargh Festival which takes place each Whitsuntide, either as maypole dancers, in the Festival Queen’s retinue, on a float or even behind the scenes.
